RESEARCH
PROJECT:
WORKING WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE
 The concept of carrying capacity is very important when working
in an area that's wildlife has been devastated and the ecological
balance upset. If a species carrying capacity is exceeded
it can affect the environment negatively and cause an overall
reduction in biodiversity in the Park. The research will start
with counts of the large mammals and include possible investigation
of the following subject areas: Population dynamics; feeding
ecology; biological influences; environmental influences;
catastrophic events and the influences of man. The data gained
from this research will provide a management tool for the
Department of National Parks and Wildlife to enable them to
make the most effective management decisions.
You will participate in game counts, accompanied by a member
of the Parks staff, which is performed in the field either
at a hide or by walking transects.
Volunteers doing a degree, masters or doctors in a relevant
field could investigate using this park as a research base.
